Start planning your 2010 vacations now. At the peak of cruise season, this late January cruise on Costa Fortuna starts at $649 per person — a good price considering the sailing occurs outside of hurricane season. You’ll visit four tropical ports with two relaxing days at sea scheduled into the itinerary. On this rejuvenating Western Caribbean cruise you’ll find some of the world’s most beautiful islands and perfect beaches for swimming, snorkeling or just lounging while you enjoy cooling tropical drinks and fresh seafood. Don’t hesitate to book so you’ll get the cabin you want.

Did you ever think you cruise the islands of Greece and discover its ancient relics for one week from the low price of just $499 — or $71 per night. Well you can with this Eastern Mediterranean cruise offer from Costa. Sail roundtrip from Venice on Costa Fortuna, and upgrade to an oceanview cabin for $799 or a balcony stateroom for $899. Your first call is at Bari, Italy, followed by a leisurely day at sea while en route to Santorini and the picturesque island of Mykonos. The last leg of the trip excites with a call at Athens and then the beautiful beaches on a visit to Corfu. And, finally relax in a cafe on your visit to the fascinating, walled city of Dubrovik, Croatia. Whatever you do, don’t miss the opportunity to tour the highlights of the region at such a reasonable price.

For residents of the East Coast, if you’re tired of all the wet weather, then it’s time to round up the swimwear and head to the pink sand beaches and aqua waters of the island of Bermuda. This seven-night cruise on Norwegian Dawn starts from $519 per person. The ship docks in King’s Wharf for two nights, which allows you to enjoy the nightlife and local eateries. And there’s three days at sea scheduled, so you can enjoy all of the amenities onboard. You can also receive up to $225 onboard credit with this NCL cruise, and spend less out of pocket for cocktails, spa treatments and other items while on the ship.

Sail out of Florida’s Port Canaveral this fall for a seven-night jaunt to the Caribbean aboard Carnival Glory starting from $499 per person for an inside cabin. Port calls include the sunny and beach-y towns of Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten, plus you’ll have three full days at sea to find out just how much fun you can have onboard one of the fleets Fun Ships! Oceanview and balcony prices are very reasonable, starting at just $589 and $749 per person, respectively. Plus, you can get up to $240 cash back (or refundable onboard credit) to use as spending money for cocktails, excursions, photos and more while on the ship.

If you can’t quite get away for a whole week, but are craving a bit of tropical island ambience, why not start our to sea with this five-night Bermuda cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas? You’ll dock overnight in King’s Wharf and enjoy two full days at sea. As one of the line’s older ships, Grandeur is still up to speed when it comes to alternative eateries and onboard activities. Plus, it’s got a great kids program if you plan to tote the kids as well. Fares start at $499 per person for an inside cabin — or just $100 per night — and remember, all of your meals (should you choose alternative restaurants), accommodations and onboard entertainment is included.

If your only complaint about Oceania is that it’s not all-inclusive, you might be interested in this limited time offer from Cruise Club of America. Book the 19-night South America cruise on Insignia, departing on January 3, 2010, and you’ll receive free roundtrip airfare from one of 20 major U.S. and Canadian gateway cities, prepaid gratuities and $800 onboard credit per cabin. Fares for inside cabins start at $4,799 per person; a window will cost you $600 more per person. While these aren’t the cheapest cruise fares around, once you consider the cost of one-way airfare into Rio de Janeiro and out of Santiago, the money you’ll save (over $200 a person) by not having to tip, and all the drinks, spa treatments and shore excursions you can buy with your onboard credit, this offer starts to look pretty appealing.

Snag this bargain while there’s still time! This 11-night cruise to the Canary Islands aboard casual Costa Serena starts at $754 per person for an inside cabin. Fares for the identical sailing departing just a month later around the Christmas holidays skyrocket to $2,134 — a difference of more than $1,300. Sail roundtrip from Savona, Italy and visit Barcelona, Casablanca, Arrecife, Tenerife, Madeira and Malaga. Plus, Costa Serena is a fantastic ship for winter cruises with its two pools with retractable roofs. And the ship has a great family program and the first onboard Formula One race-car driving simulator to keep kids busy on days at sea — for this cruise there will be four. Upgrade your cabin — oceanview cabins fares start at $954 per person and balconies are going for $1,114 per person.

This offer may not be the most fabulous deal of the season, but as the price has gone up it may mean the ship is selling out. It could, however, be one of your last chances to sail majestic Alaska on a Celebrity ship this year. Fares for this seven-night cruise, in which you’ll sail southbound from Seward to Vancouver aboard Celebrity Millennium, start from $899 per person for an inside cabin. You’ll visit the “greatest hits” ports of Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. Plus, explore offbeat Icy Strait Point and do some scenic cruising (be sure to take advantage of the great photo ops) near Hubbard Glacier.

MSC Cruises is putting balconies on sale for a limited time. Book select fall and winter Mediterranean cruises on MSC Fantasia or MSC

If you’re a lover of sea days and making the most of a luxury cruise ship, you may be interested in the 10-night transatlantic cruise on Crystal Serenity, departing on November 12. The itinerary features a mere two port calls, one in the Azores and the other in the Caribbean. In between, you’ll have seven sea days (five of which are consecutive) to participate in ballroom dance workshops, learn to play piano or speak Spanish, practice your golf or bridge game, and listen to expert lecturers on topics such as baseball history, astronomy and voice acting. Fares start at $3,430 per person for an outside cabin.
