Trans-Atlantic cruises present two problems — you don’t get to visit many ports and you’re stuck with often-pricey one-way airfares. Azamara’s 15-night trans-Atlantic cruise on Azamara Journey solves both those problems. The first week of the itinerary is spent exploring Spain, Morocco and the Canary Islands before a second week at sea. And, airfare is free from select cities in the U.S. and Canada. Prices start at $2,249 per person and, besides airfare, include prepaid gratuities and $500 onboard credit per cabin.

Start winter break early and take the kids on a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise on MSC Lirica. Not only do adult prices start at a very affordable $449 per person, but kids sail for free (as third and fourth passengers in a cabin) and get a 30 percent discount on shore excursions. Not to mention airfare to Ft. Lauderdale is way cheaper than flying directly to the Caribbean, let alone Europe. The mid-December itinerary visits popular ports for beaching and waters sports, such as Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
