Seabourn reports that its Riviera cruises sell out closer to departure than other Europe sailings, so you can still find great prices and availability on spring voyages. Prices for a seven-night May cruise onboard Seabourn Legend start from $3,946 per person. With this itinerary, you can avoid the crowds by visiting quieter ports such as Tarragona, Palamos, Port Vendres and Le Lavandou.

Silversea is offering a Mexican Riviera cruise with a twist. You can visit key ports on Mexico’s west coast — such as Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa and Acapulco — but instead of returning to Los Angeles, you keep traveling south to Guatemala and Costa Rica. Prices for the 11-night cruise on the Silver Shadow start from $3,957 per person for a Vista Suite. Note that this cruise does take place during hurricane season.

Carnival is touting rates from $569 per person on seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises on the Carnival Glory between late August and early December. Know what these months have in common? Yup, it’s hurricane season. With the money you save with these low rates, be sure to buy yourself some travel insurance in case a storm decides to hit during your vacation.

The Mediterranean cruise season keeps getting longer, with some lines now offering year-round sailings. The best prices, of course, will be in the shoulder season when the weather gets chillier and kids head back to school. For example, you can book a 10-night Mediterranean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean’s Splendour of the Seas for $899 per person. That works out to a nightly rate of $90, and we bet you can’t find a decent hotel (let alone food and entertainment) in any of these ports for so little.

Alaska cruises early in the season are typically a better deal than summer departures, plus you’re likely to encounter sunnier weather. You can sail the Sapphire Princess on a seven-night cruise from $514 per person in May and June. The itinerary includes visits to the gold-rush town of Skagway, Juneau and its stunning Mendenhall Glacier, and rainy Ketchikan — a great jumping-off point for outdoor adventures.
